Individual Psychotherapy for Adults

Life can be difficult, even overwhelming at times. Many people, at some point in their lives, will find themselves attempting to cope with problems like depression, anxiety, stress, grief, difficult transitions and problems in their relationships with others. Some forms of suffering can be acute; you may feel like you are experiencing a crisis and are looking for immediate relief. Other challenges may have been present for a long time and might benefit from a more patient approach to care. Individual psychotherapy can help you with both.

As an important first step, therapy offers a safe and supportive relationship that is deeply rooted in trust and respect. After this necessary step has been taken, therapy can take different paths. One path may be helping you tackle symptoms head-on while developing the tools to cope more effectively, for instance by learning how better to regulate your emotions. Another path may include learning more about yourself and how you relate to others, for instance why it can be difficult to feel close to important people in your life. I will help you design a treatment plan that best suits your individualized treatment goals.
